Why do I crochet?

Why do I crochet?

Why do I crochet?

Simply put: I love to create.

I love color even more.

I was raised with needlecrafts of all sorts, as it seemed everyone in our family "sewed". If there was something I wanted to learn, there was someone able to teach it.

And I studied everything I could.

My favorite place was to sit by the chair of someone who was crocheting in order to watch the long, thin string twist and turn, looping in and out, as it was being transformed into woven perfection.

It's not just about duplicating a pattern though. It's about the the end result: and how it makes you feel. The texture, the colors, the uniqueness of crochet stands apart from every other art form in my mind.

The ultimate challenge: creating exceptionally unique and beautiful works of art with yarn.

That's a challenge I've happily embraced.

My focus:

Why do I crochet?

Why do I crochet?

Many of us have fond memories of a certain crocheted afghan blanket that grandma kept draped over the back of the couch...

or the little slippers that our Aunties made the kids every winter...

and those of us who (as in my case), were the babies of the "Flower Children" of the 60's: we had our multi-colored, heavily fringed "poncho's" to twirl around in.

Those were the BEST!!!

For me now?

I still adore ponchos...

especially if they are detail rich and have a proper amount of "flounce".

I also cherish what is referred to traditionally  as: "Campfire Coats".

Each, a wearable afghan to snuggle up with at home or on holiday,  by the campfire or fireplace, while binge watching a favorite show,  working from your home office, cheering for your local football game or joining friends for coffee...

Campfire Coats and Ponchos  are exquisitely perfect. The artistry of some of the finest crochet patterns known combined with hand woven comfort.

Generous fit, heirloom quality, attention to detail, superb comfort and versatility.

My Inspiration:

My Inspiration:

I find inspiration daily in the world around us, whether it be from a random picture on Pinterest, a spontaneous photograph of the early morning sun, or the colors and textures of the fruits and vegetables being prepared for dinner...

Each of these opportunities communicate a vision, or an idea that can be translated into art.

And for me, that art takes the form of crochet.

I believe a crocheted afghan or garment should tell a story that is as unique as the person it represents.

Not a standard, mass produced replica, but a uniquely beautiful expression of the individual's authentic spirit.
